The 4-star Hotel Avanti is a friendly family-run hotel located close to the sea in an area of Paphos resort that is rich in bars, restaurants, shops and other facilities. Only 20 minutes stroll or a short bus ride from the port and historic centre of the town, it also offers excellent access for both sightseeing and boat excursions. A spacious hotel, it has been built in the shape of a huge "U" that embraces a vast mature garden and an extremely large free-form swimming pool. Fine additional facilities for daytime enjoyment include a 5-rink bowling green, three tennis courts and a French 'boules' run. Breakfasts and lunches can be taken on a sheltered terrace memorably overhung by magnificent multi-coloured bougainvillea. Buffet style dinners vary throughout the week and are frequently themed.

Paphos itself comprises two towns a couple of kilometres apart, Kato or Lower Paphos, close to the port, and Pano or Upper Paphos, behind it, inland. Kato Paphos contains a wealth of ancient archaeological interest, including world-renowned mosaics, and offers a wide choice of tourist facilities. Pano Paphos, by contrast, is less tourist-influenced, offering insights into local daily life, a fascinating market and a number of fine churches.

243 spacious bedrooms with bath, shower and a balcony. All rooms are carpeted, have direct dial telephone, hair dryer, heating/air conditioning, satellite TV, mini bar (filled on request), and safe (small charge).

The Ballroom:
The hotel's Athena Ballroom is a large pillarless rectangular ballroom with attractive lighting and a beautiful sprung wooden floor.

The Troodos Mountains: Visit Cyprus's wealthiest monastery, Kykkos, on a tour of the refreshing and attractive Troodos Mountains that also includes time at leisure in two of its prettiest villages, Omodos & Platres.

Nicosia & the Crafts of Lefkara: Enjoy an orientation tour of Cyprus's ancient walled capital combined with time at leisure to explore the much photographed crafts village of Lefkara, specialising in lace and silverwork.

Ancient Curium & Kolossi: Combining fine classical and medieval monuments this tour contrasts the amphitheatre and mosaics of hilltop Curium with the 13th-century castle and medieval museum at Kolossi. During the visit to Kolossi there will also be time, for those that wish, to experience its multi-sensory Time Elevator.

Paphos Villages: An exploration of the charming unspoilt villages of the Paphos region includes a scenic drive into the Akamas Peninsula Nature Reserve.
