Forget Me Not Ball Bank Holiday
Durrant House Hotel, Bideford
With Daytime Indoor Short Mat Bowls
For those who don’t know, there is a charity for dancers called Forget - me - Not. Their aim is a simple one... if you let them know a dancer is going to be in Hospital for more than two days, the charity will send them a lovely card from the ‘World of Dancers’ wishing them a speedy recovery... This simple message from dancing reminds them they are not forgotten and is always warmly received. The weekend will be a fun weekend fundraiser for this worthy charity and Carole and I will start the ball rolling and donate £10 for every couple who joins us on the break. During the holiday which will include a dance cabaret every evening, the hotel and Carole and I will be hosting little events/features/offers to try and tease a little contribution from our dancing guests and really raise a worthwhile amount of money for this wonderful dancers charity.
Carole and I promise you a wonderful Bank holiday weekend at The Best Hotel in our offering and this time of year, lots to see and do in North Devon.

In 1953 a few dance enthusiasts organised a cricket match between Amateur and Professional dancers held at a sports field in Enfield. Over two hundred people attended and it was decided to organise a day each year when dancers (Amateur and Professional) could meet away from the dance floor. The organising Committee also decided that any surplus funds generated by the event would be donated to dancers who were or had been ill in hospital. This was the start of what was to become the dancers “Forget Me Not” Fund. In 1957 the first dance was held and in 1965, because of lack of support, it was decided not to continue with the cricket match but to concentrate on the Annual Ball. In 1966 the name was changed from the “Amateur and Professional Ballroom Dancers Benevolent Fund” to the “Dancers’ Forget Me Not Fund” and the Annual Ball remains to this day the largest single influx of funds to the Charity. Any dancer in the UK who is, or has recently been hospitalised, is eligible to receive our gift cheque and card, and we are constantly heartened by the thanks that we receive from recipients who tell us how wonderful it was to be remembered by their dancing colleagues at a time when they were feeling particularly low. The Fund is administered by a Committee who voluntarily give their time and services but to be able to send the cheque and card we must be informed of dancers’ details who have had a stay in hospital (by their friends or family). The easiest way to alert us is to inform a current Committee Member. Remember, there is no subscription, if you are a dancer in the UK and meet the criteria (two nights or more in hospital) you are automatically eligible. Your support is the easiest way to ensure that the Fund continues for many years to come and is able to carry on lifting dancers’ morale during their enforced absence from the dance floor. |

Diamante Beach Hotel, Calpe, Spain
The Hotel Diamante Beach is a spacious, modern complex with lovely rooms; all with balconies, contemporary bathrooms, and with a light, airy restaurant featuring an excellent and varied buffet. There is also a spacious ballroom with a fine laminate floor on which our guests have danced many times, and which has a high approval rating.

Calpe the resort is 60 mins by car and 75 mins by coach from Alicante Airport, and as you can see from the photographs it's nothing like its neighbour Benidorm, 30 mins drive away. The backdrop to this beautiful resort is stunning and if the weather's kind you could not find a more pleasant resort to while away your leisure hours.
Hotel Diamante Beach & Calpe
The Costa Blanca is renowned for its year-round sunshine and expansive sandy beaches. Moreover Calpe, where this unique holiday is based, is an attractive unspoilt resort, benefitting from a spectacular mountain backdrop, building controls (very few tall buildings) and the fact that it houses two protected nature reserves.
The resort area of the town is totally flat and features two beautiful beaches, a delightful esplanade and many bars and restaurants. The old town sits on a hilltop just behind the resort and comprises a fascinating little warren of historic alleyways and squares, several of which have been recently restored.
The 4-star Hotel Diamante Beach is located close to the sea in the resort area and is the highly impressive, recently constructed flagship of the town's leading hotel chain. Apart from the delightfully chic modern decor of its bedrooms, the Hotel Diamante Beach is also notable for the excellence of its 2000m² health spa and the unusually large dimensions of its ballroom.
Rooms: 283 elegantly appointed bedrooms with bath, shower and a balcony. All rooms also have a telephone, air conditioning, mini bar, hair dryer and safe (extra charge).
Other features: Buffet restaurant with show cooking, a la carte Italian restaurant, cafeteria, lobby bar, outdoor pool & sun lounging area, health spa and occasional evening entertainment.

The Ballroom: Offering by far the largest flooor in the Costa Blanca, the tall-ceilinged Diamante Beach ballroom is Calpe's premier venue for large scale events and is conveniently located within the hotel close to its main dining room.
You will love this resort and the hotel, and Carole and I can thoroughly recommend this Holidays4Dancers continental break.
